Adoption Guidelines
Our adoption guidelines are designed to ensure each rabbit finds a safe, loving, and well-prepared forever home. From housing and diet to bonding and care, these standards reflect our commitment to responsible, rabbit-centered adoptions. Please review them carefully before applying—your future bunny thanks you!
1. Age Requirements
Primary adopters must be 21 years or older.
Children are welcome to interact with the rabbit under adult supervision, but rabbits must be adopted into homes where an adult is the primary caregiver.
2. Indoor-Only Policy
All rabbits adopted from Hoppy Tides must live indoors only. Outdoor enclosures, hutches, or free-ranging in unsecured areas are not permitted due to predators, weather risks, and isolation.
3. Housing Expectations
Minimum required space: X-pen setup or a large room free of hazards (no small cages or aquariums).
Flooring must be non-slip and comfortable for sensitive rabbit feet.
Rabbits need daily free-roam time in a safe area.
Homes must be rabbit-proofed to protect wires, furniture, and baseboards.

4. Diet Requirements
Adopters must commit to providing a proper rabbit diet:
85% fresh hay
10% leafy greens
5% pellets and occasional treats
Unlimited access to fresh water in a bowl (preferred) or bottle
5. Spay/Neuter Policy
All Hoppy Tides rabbits are spayed/neutered before adoption.
If adopting a second rabbit for bonding, your current rabbit must also be spayed/neutered.
6. Bonding & Multi-Rabbit Homes
Bonding must be done gradually and safely, with supervision and guidance.
We offer support for introducing a new rabbit to your current bunny.
7. Veterinary Care
Adopters must agree to provide routine and emergency vet care from a rabbit-savvy veterinarian.
We can recommend rabbit-experienced vets in your area if needed.
8. Home Visits & Interviews
A virtual or in-person home check may be required.
We want to ensure the space is safe and the setup supports a rabbit’s well-being.
9. Adoption Fees
Our adoption fee covers spay/neuter, health checks, and rescue costs.
Fees vary slightly based on rabbit age or bonded pairs. See our Adoptable Rabbits page for current rates.
10. Return Policy
If for any reason you can no longer care for your adopted rabbit, you must return them to Hoppy Tides. We do not allow rehoming outside our network.
11. Lifetime Commitment
Rabbits can live 10+ years and require daily care and companionship.
Adoption is not a short-term decision. We’re looking for forever homes that will treat their bunny like family
